When using Billet Metal Polish on aluminum, a black residue should appear on the applicator. If it doesn't, stop polishing immediately. The metal is probably clear coated and should be maintained with Mothers Clear Coat Wheel Polish.

To determine whether you should use the clay bar, rub your hand over the washed paint surface. If it is not perfectly smooth, you need the clay. Remember to keep the surface area wet with Showtime while using the clay bar, and follow all clay bar treatments with polish and wax.

If you can catch your fingernail on a scratch, then there's a chance it's too deep to polish out completely. The appearance will be vastly improved, but the scratch may not go away. Polish the scratch in a variety of angles opposite to its direction.
